Lineups are in:

Arsenal: Starters: Almunia, Eboue, Squillaci, Miquel, Gibbs, Diaby, Denilson, Bendtner, Rosicky, Henderson, Chamakh Bench: Sagna, Nasri, Wilshere, Djourou, Clichy, Arshavin, Szczesny

Leyton Orient: Starters: Jones, Whing, Chorley, Forbes, Daniels, Revell, Dawson, Crowe, Carroll, Cox, McGleish Bench: Omozusi, Chambers, Butcher, Spring, Tehoue, Cestor, M’poku

Well then. That’s quite an inspired lineup isn’t it? Looks like 10 changes from Sunday with Rosicky being the only one who started against Birmingham in the Carling Cup final. Conor Henderson, 19 year old Irish midfielder, is handed his first start. Big day for him. The twitterati seem to have many a kind word for him, so let’s hope he has a good game. The rest is a mishmash of our B squad. Chamakh is up front. So much for my wanting Bendtner up there. I’m assuming it’ll be Henderson and Denilson in for Song and Jack with Diaby filling in the Cesc role and Rosicky and Bendtner out on the wings. The bench looks pretty thin, so let’s hope the starting eleven can do some damage to the Orient team. Worse comes to worse, we bring on Arshavin for some Russian magic or maybe even Nasri. We really don’t want to use them today though if we can help it with the games we have coming up. I’d say we’ll destroy the O’s, but this is Arsenal. I am not taking anything for granted anymore!

Win this and we’re through to the quarterfinals where we’d face Manchester United at Old Trafford. Lose, and that’s 2 trophies gone in 4 days with a huge league game against Sunderland and Barcelona looming. Let’s try not to let the entire season crumble here please and at least put in a decent performance. The last thing we need is another confidence-shattering game like Sunday. I’ll be watching on replay again right after they show the Villa-City FA Cup tie. Yay. Thanks a lot Setanta. How about you bloody show a midweek Arsenal game live for once so I can do my bloody job over here? Anyway.

Come on Arsenal!

But Freddie my friend....nothing can erase my smile today...I needed this (even though I might be all me again when we ....... at Old Trafford)Fred Jacob2011 FA Cup Finals

Gael Clichy scores. I repeat - GAEL CLICHY JUST SCORES FOR THE ARSENAL. GAEL. CLICHY.Gigi_manwell if this was supposed to be a lift up from Sunday, for me work done. They just lifted me higher than Martins post hahahaFred Jacobi would have preferred to win Sunday and lose todayHomey_MillsIt's funny how the post-game handshake between Wenger and the opposing manager was much more cordial than it is with fellow EPL managers.JGWe're going to Old Trafford!Gigi_manClichy u motherborthersisterrrrrrrr!!!!!!
I just looooooove when these guys shut me the f*** up!!!!!
for all the crap I ve been giving him, nicely done for a 1st goal since like before Chamakh, so 501 years ago hahahasofreshnsocleanwith rosicky off, does that mean Wenger looks to play him against Sunderland on Sunday? I'd rather play arshavin and nasri on the wings and then bendtner and chamakh up front...esp against sunderland at the stadium of light. gotta counter...Junichi Ezechiel BennettIt will be at the emirates...JGGael Clichy scores only his second ever goal for Arsenal and his first in 5000 years. The bet is still 2.00 for Leyton to win 5-6, though.ASDFAs Martin Tyler says in FIFA 11 "Its the high fives here" :D :DHomey_MillsIf all replays were like this, they wouldn't be so bad. We get players like Almunia, Gibbs, Denilson, and Chamakh some game action. We even get Henderson and Miquel involved. And Chamakh breaks his scoring drought. Not bad all the way around.Gigi_manOk for some good, theres some bad, whay in earth are we using Nasri or Jacky..or even Clichy for that matter..? Arsene, come on!Perry S.Agreed, Nasri, Jack should NOT be on the pitch, but Clichy...he can be our sacrificial lamb ;)Homey_MillsPlease look at it more carefully. Everyone on the bench was a first team starter. That's because we were already taking enough risk with the lineup as it was. If the game were tied with 25 minutes left, then we could put in Nasri or Arshavin to try to press for a winning goal. That makes perfect sense.
Well then Rosicky was injured, and someone had to go on. There aren't many options there. It's either Nasri, Jack, or AA. Then Bendtner needed to go off, because he has a lot more games ahead of him, and he shouldn't play 90 minutes in a laugher. That means another starter needs to go in. Now, I wish Diaby could have played the whole game. But I guess his fitness isn't there yet, and so AW figured it wouldn't hurt to let Clichy play half an hour.
So when you look at it carefully, there's really nothing wrong with the subs, imho.Gigi_manI know what you mean, and its a valid point. My concern was: what if they get injured? Thk God it didnt happen, so ... YeeeyyyyyPerry S.Agreed, Nasri, Jack should NOT be on the pitch, but Clichy...he can be our sacrificial lamb ;)Gigi_manMartin!? Martin? are you way up high in heaven right now? :)))))
This is beautiful, even if I stand by some of my thoughts, handing us a 4-0 and a hat trick from Nick its ba beauty.
Ok...now I have a flashback of another 4-0..man why am I so f*** pessimist?JGDiaby playing well. Bendtner has a hat-trick; very good to see him get in his customary, second half of the season goalscoring form he has been for the last couple of years.Perry S.Best match comment of the day, ""Bendtner will fancy a hat-trick. In fact, he'll fancy a double hat-trick. He probably does before every game."Gigi_manNick!!!!!! you are making Martin a happy man today u big Dane youuuu!!!Homey_MillsUh oh. Now a hat trick for Nick. Martin will never let us hear the end of it.Homey_MillsDiaby recently carving up the defense and then firing wide. Frustrating to see the hard part done so well, and the easy part wasted.Homey_MillsI would normally hope we'd empty the bench a bit with a big lead. But doing that would mean giving more minutes to the "A team" players. So we may not use any subs. I think getting Bendtner out at some point would be good though. Then nobody in the current starting 11 would play 90 minutes.Homey_MillsWe have the game on live tv here in the good ol' U.S. of A. But I missed the first half with work. I did see the replays of the goals at halftime. They were all well-taken. Very little celebration though. I guess that's good, if we have our eyes on even bigger prizes.Patoux21Any news on Ramsey? Is he back in the team? It would have been a good game for him to get some minutes.ASDFHe cannot play in this game as he dint play in the first leg at OrientPatoux21Too bad I can't wait to see him play again for Arsenal he's such a talented player.Gigi_manYEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
wow. was not putting any special into this game, but seeing Chamakh and Nick score makes me feel soooooooo good!!!!
Stupid ESPN...hope they pass a replay.
JGNice to see Chamakh get a goal for the first time in 500 years. Diaby has been energetic and all over the place, which is good because he'll be big in the next couple of months.Gigi_manstupid TGIF stupid ESPN... I rushed back to the office to check some good news..Chamakh reloaded!!!!!
Dont know much, just saw it, but its got to be good, feels good.SJGgumbyHe almost looked embarrased about scoring that, must've forgotten what it felt like. Couldn't have picked a better goalscorer for the team.Junichi Ezechiel BennettAny stream links people ?sofreshnsocleannevermind, they are employing a 4-4-2. Rosicky on the left and Henderson on the right. NickyB and Chamakh up front.

PS. I never thought i'd use the word 'employ' on a blog.Gigi_mani was wondering, since how long did we not use two upfront? nice solution, nice change imo. Hopefully works for some new moves.sofreshnsocleanI just think it makes sense from a personnel move. If you're playing two target men, why not play them both in the box?...I think the 4-2-3-1 is perfect for our A squad, but this works better for our B...let's go gunners!sofreshnsocleanWhy is Wenger obsessed with the 4-2-3-1 formation? Wouldn't a classic 4-4-2, or even a 4-2-2-2, work better with this squad? with henderson and rosicky on the wings with bendtner and chamakh up front?Marloneious4-4-2 is outdated.MartinI actually think it will be Denilson and Diaby at the back, Henderson out wide left, and Rosicky in the Cesc role, but we'll see.

Some people were pissed that Henderson was starting, but I'm good with it. I think that, especially after yesterday, our focus has to be on the league, and while it would be embarrassing to go out in this one, (a) it's not likely to happen; and (b) even if it did, it wouldn't be the end of the world.

But I'd much rather have players rested and ready to batter Sunderland and pull us within 1 point of the top than have risked fatigue and injury with too many key players in this one.

Come on Arsenal.Homey_MillsFor the record, I was hoping for a Henderson start in yesterday's blog.Gigi_manYep, now the silver spoon of the EPL is here, we must focus on that, agreed!SairaxYeah but I'd have to self-impose a twitter embargo for all the gooner rage that will spill outSairaxOk that was supposed to be a reply to Martin. Stupid disqus.SairaxAnd that was supposed to be a reply to myself.SairaxOh wait, it worked. Never mind. All hail disqus.Gigi_manDisqus is only slow apparently hahaha, same thing happens to meMartinBest comment thread ever? Best comment thread ever.SJGgumbyThis thread is the blogging equivalent of Arshavin wearing a tshirt of him celebrating a goal while celebrating a goal.Chicago GunnerAgreed.
