FA Youth Cup: Chelsea vs. Watford

The quarterfinals of the FA Youth Cup are today, and the Chelsea young boys will be taking on the young Hornets of Watford. When these two sides met in the Cup last season, Chelsea emerged 4-0 victors. Can our week get even better with a win for the youth team?

Can Milan outpace the Watford defense?

Watford reached this stage by beating Swindon Town, Wigan and Fulham, scoring seven and conceding two (both against Wigan) along the way. At least two of their youth squad, forward Gavin Massey and defender Adam Thompson, have been playing for the first team already. Midfielder Sean Murray is their top-scorer in the Cup with three goals – surely one to watch.

Our young defender Nathaniel Chalobah has been in great goal-scoring form lately, scoring earlier in the Cup against Sunderland and Barnsley, but also recently for the youth and reserves against Ipswich and Aston Villa. We could also possibly see a debut for back-from-loan Czech defender Tomas Kalas. Perhaps Kalas at right-back and push Billy Clifford, one of our stars of the Youth Cup campaign so far, and Todd Kane back into midfield?

The match starts at 2pm EST, live on Chelsea TV.

Milan Lalkovic has promised a win, so it’s time for the boys to deliver! The winner of our match will take on the winner of Liverpool/Manchester United in the semifinal.
