Arsenal - Stoke Postponed

The club has just announced that today’s match against Stoke City is postponed due to snow and wintery conditions.

And it’s probably a good decision. As much as I was looking forward to making a mug of hot chocolate and watching this match with MLSF and the cats, the conditions look pretty tough:

And supposedly things got a bit worse from there, it sounds like it was pretty much a full-on blizzard in North London. I hate to lose this match, and I hate that it will make fixture congestion a problem later on, but it would be pretty ridiculous for fans to have to come out in that, and for players to play in it. That much snow would make the pitch incredibly slick, underground heating system notwithstanding, and our players would be at a much greater risk of injury than normal. And tactically speaking, those kinds of conditions would definitely favor Stoke’s rough and tumble, kick it long, style, so we’d probably prefer to replay it some other time anyway. It’s unclear when it will be replayed. Neither team has a game midweek, so I suppose it could just be a couple of days, but I just don’t know. We will obviously keep you updated.

Until then, listen to Bon Iver and contemplate the loves you’ve lost:

Or spend time with your family. Or do that last minute Christmas shopping. Whatever people do on winter Saturdays when there’s no football to watch.

Is that your cat in the picture? What a cool pic for the occasion.
There was some talk the other day about the SPL moving to a spring/summer/fall schedule, as they do in placed like Norway, I believe. I got to wondering why all of Europe doesn't do that. Or at least all the northern countries, such as England and Germany. Then we could have the WC in the winter, which is possibly what we'll have when Qatar hosts anyway. Well, I better not get started back on that rant.Just ArsenalTsk Tsk! I have to say, I still don't understand how all this work permit stuff works. But it's good news -- Wenger seems pretty high on him. I don't think we'll see him in any first-team games for this season, but if he impresses in training and with the reserves between now and August, we may get to see him next season.Gigi_manMy fantasy about a martial - art goal celebration is coming to reality yeeeeaaaahhhFred Jacobdawn am going to get 0 points on my fantasy side this weekMartinChelsea v. Its neccesary for what you say about Stoke s style definitely, but what worries me is my state of mind in thinking all along "we got a game in hand" until we do (well its nit my state of mind, its our gunners state of mind, if anything close to mine, its dangerous)blog comments powered by Disqus
