Mental Health Break: FA Cup v. West Ham

By: Noel | December 22nd, 2010

People keep saying, “Why don’t you post something nice now and again? I mean, things may not be pretty on the footballing front right now, but is it really in your best interest to drive your five Australian readers to self-harm? Especially over the holidays, when a depressingly large portion of the population is, well, feeling rather depressed to begin with?”

To which I say, “That’s quite a bit to deal with and I don’t have the slightest clue where to start, but okay, I’ll go looking for some cheerful Liverpool Chrsitmas video to maybe make you feel a little more upbeat for a few minutes. Or something.”

Then I realise it’s not spelled “Chrsitmas” and that might be why I’m not finding anything, only it turns out that’s not why I’m not finding anything. But how about taking a few minutes off from the seasonal insanity to remember the good old days anyhow, and in particular that sometimes overlooked classic of an FA Cup final against West Ham? Sound like a plan? Good, sounds like a plan…

« Looking Back at 2010 on the Liverpool Offside | Home | Smitty_wBit harsh stealing Woy's thunder he drove me to self harm long before you NoleRedDownUndaGerrraaaaaaaard...Crack-a-lackin' shot Stevie - God I love those old pre-woy days. Even upside down here in the land of Oz that shot still looks sensational. And seeing Rafa again, I am fondly reminded of his peculiar sideline sign language. Did anyone have any idea what on earth he was on about? It looked for all the world like a nastily physical manifestation of Tourrete's Syndrome. Woy Woy's version appears to be where he rubs his nose all over his head and ends up with a face like a twisted sandshoe. (PS. Apropos of nothing much, Woy Woy is actually a town here DownUnder made famous by a tenuous association with the famous Goon Show comedian, Spike Milligan. Milligan famously named Woy Woy "the largest above ground cemetery in the world" when visiting in the 1960s. The double name is a corruption of the indigenous term apparently taken from the local Darkinjung Aboriginal people, and reputedly means 'big lagoon'. I'm personally of the mind that it means, 'Fucking hopeless white fella who should get out of Dodge and leave our fucking team the fuck alone' - following the Tourettes Syndrome du Jour.)
Crap, I didn't mean to ramble on like this so let me quickly finish by just saying that I wake up and nod off to latest offerings from The Offside/Liverpool every day on my iPhone. It's freakin' hard to read text set in 2pt flyshit but I persevere as you guys just break me up. You truly are the brightness in these dark days at my beloved Club. Goodonya. YNWA.NoelThanks, mate. And that's a great little story. Even if it is apropos of nothing (much).blog comments powered by Disqus
