Lineups are in:
Arsenal: Starters: Fabianski, Koscielny, Squillaci, Gibbs, Sagna, Song, Denilson, Nasri, Arshavin, van Persie (c), Chamakh Bench: Szczesny, Rosicky, Vela, Walcott, Wilshere, Eboue, Bendtner
Partizan: Starters: Stojkovic, Medo, Petrovic, Cleo, Moreira, Jovanovic, Savic, Lazevski, Krstajic, Ilic, Babovic Bench: Ilic, Stankovic, Brasanac, Davidov, Kizito, Illiev, Smiljanic
Three points. Must win. If we lose or draw and Braga win we’re out. We have a good home record in the Champions League this season, so there’s no reason we should lose this match. If we score 6 goals, we will set a new record for goals scored in the Champions League group stages, but I won’t get too ahead of myself. Right now we just have to win. If Braga win along with us, we go top of the group (go Arsenalistas!) but with Shaktar’s strong home form this is very very unlikely.
We have a pretty strong lineup. Gibbs comes in for Clichy and Denilson for Wilshere, but those aren’t switches that should weaken the team. Robin van Persie captains the team and will start the game next to Chamakh for the first time, so it will be interesting to see how they work together. If you are so inclined, you could also pay more attention to Song to see if our concerns about him have been unfounded or unjustified this season.
Keep calm and focused and we should not get into trouble. Three points and a convincing win could give our players a boost before the big game on Monday as well.
Come on Arsenal!

And they were so thankful that they benched him?
Best of luck!SairaxI may or may not approve of this messageJulianI may or may not watch Arsenal today but I may or may not be rooting for you anyway.SairaxI may or may not want to top the group just to meet Roma next round. Maybe.JulianI may or may not prefer you guys to Barca/Man U anyway.SairaxI may or may not give a flying figJulianThat may or may not have hurt my feelings.SairaxThat may or may not have been my intention and I may or may not care. Though I may or may not feel bad as wellMartinYeah, I think Sagna is at right-back, right? And I can't believe Theo doesn't get a start for this one.
Hopefully we can get out to a sizeable lead and sub out some guys like Chamakh, Nasri, and Arshavin who have been playing an awful lot lately so they can be fully healthy and fit for Man United.
I am off the internet this afternoon b/c I am avoiding any mention of the game so I can watch it on DVR later. Come on Arsenal.SairaxMy mistake! Should be fixed now :)
Things seem to go wrong when you DVR matches :S Anyway, let's hope we win! :DMartinI just like being the picky, pedantic commenter. Fun to be on this side of the line occasionally.RedCapedWonderwow. catchy song. :P.
Okay, now, while that song is playing in the background. (While we sing this song we'll win the game ? That might just work !!!) I think a win today is extremely, extremely important.
If we win, we can beat United. They aren't the same this season. Last time round, Rooney was a factor. Before that, Ronaldo. Now they have no-one. Berbatov is a good player, sure, but he's not a superstar. Every team has those few amazing players. We, this season have Nasri, hopefully Cesc and RVP. Chelsea (usually) has Drogba, Lampard, Terry, Ashley Cole. United this season does not have a single player of that calibre.
If we can come off a good win and an assured CL spot, I think we can keep up our brilliant away record. Also, note that a win away at Old Trafford boosts confidence a LOT. And we have tough games after that as well, with Stoke and Chelsea.Homey_MillsLooking at the bench, I hope none of our defenders get injured. We only have Eboue on the bench - no Clichy or Djourou or even Nordtveit.Homey_MillsWow, it's like I can just see the future. Gibbs already off due to injury.MartinYeah, in case of injury I guess Song will slide back and we'll bring on Wilshere. Not ideal. Or Sagna could slide over and Eboue could cover him at right-back. But it's worrying, to be sure.M ShadiI think you forgot Sagna :)
That's a very strong line-up, I'd have liked especially Chamakh, and may be nasri to be rested, and Walcott needs some game time.
Well, what do I know, Arsene knows.SairaxMy bad! Will go fix it nowTsubasaI think you predicted that he'll be left out!Sairaxcraaaaap!blog comments powered by Disqus
