Liverpool:

Reina
Flanagan Carragher Skrtel Johnson
Meireles Lucas Spearing Maxi
Kuyt Suarez

Bench: Gulacsi, Kyrgiakos, Wilson, Cole, Shelvey, Poulsen, Robinson

From wondering about how he’ll be integrated to wondering where the hell he is—Andy Carroll misses out on the squad completely, with the official site stating that he “has not been deemed fit enough to make the matchday squad.” So a re-aggravation of the injury suffered at Arsenal, a different knock in training, or something else entirely. Either way, it leaves Liverpool with nearly the exact same eleven that’s poured in eight goals in two matches, with Glen Johnson again featuring ahead of Jack Robinson. Two different options in the midfield; last week we got a 4-2-2-2 after seeing a diamond with Raul Meireles at the point against Birmingham. Either way, you look at that bench and realize that in the best possible scenario, nobody over the age of 19 finds his way onto the pitch.

Fulham:

Schwarzer
Baird Hughes Hangeland Salcido
Davies Sidwell Murphy Dempsey
Gudjohnsen Dembele

Bench: Stockdale, Johnson, Senderos, Etuhu, Kakuta, Zamora, Greening

Just entered the address for the admin site, so team sheets will be updated in the post around kickoff.
mattnot good at all. do you think at some point we just shut him down for the year and tell him to get healthy? also what a joy that U-21 tournament will be, a half fit carroll spending his summer playing in a meaningless tournament instead of recovering. god damn the FAEd@butoraj2:disqus I see your Dirk Kuyt illness-healing smile and raise you a confusing dual finger-flicking assault on Raul Meireles.

PradI actually want Spurs to win tomorrow. Helps keep the miracles-do-happen hope for a Champions League spot alive for usYNWAagreed. Europa league is such a distant second to the UCL that's it's hardly better than any europe at all. I would even welcome the argument that missing the europa league would be better for us in terms of our league position next yearJay WrightSpurs are a joke - from their reaction to potentially playing in the Europa League, you'd think that they were Man U, not a team that has barely appeared in Europe throughout my lifetime!

I can't wait for the Redknapp effect to properly sink in and for that club to pull a Leeds now. Arrogant pr!ckspaulAnyone else worried we'll lose our fluidity if Carroll starts?Jay WrightChelsea have played some fluid stuff with a big target man up (Drogba) through the middle, and there's no reason that we couldn't aspire to the same with an even bigger target man as the fulcrum of our attack...EdYes, if we're talking about the standard "introducing a new player to a squad" concerns and not "holy shit he hasn't won Liverpool the title yet" stuff that's been flying around.

Think it's important to remember that we've seen him play for Liverpool a grand total of eight times--twice in late substitute appearances in matches that were already settled, once in a substitute appearance away to Braga in which he immediately had a positive impact, the start against City in which Liverpool played some of their best football all season, three starts on the road (where Liverpool have been mostly impotent all season), and a start against Braga in the Europa League (again where, at least in terms of performances, Liverpool struggled all season).

So yeah, with European football on the line, mildly concerning that trying to integrate him into the side might bring back hoofing, but also very optimistic about the impact he could have if and when they get it right.
redtrev73We played some good stuff against city Paul and will likely have similar personnel out again so hopefully that will be the pattern tonight. The pass and move philosophy The King has reintroduced has floundered only when Carra's been on the flank. With a combo of flanno and jonno in situ and jamie back safely in the heart of defence, the delivery and movement should be excellent. In theory, there should be very few 'hail-mary's' towards big Andy and instead we'll see the likes of suarez, raul, lucas, wee jay, dirky and the afore-mentioned full backs ping it about with style....in theory..!RavenilliI would like to say that you're correct about Cara not hoofing the ball when he's not on the right but even against Newcastle he was still hitting long hopeful balls up the flanks for Suarez to try and get which most of the time was impossible so having Andy on the field doesn't seem to make a bit of difference to Cara in my opinion. Hopefully most of the game he will go through the midfield and give the pass and move a chance as they are a far better team when playing the ball on the ground and big Andy would be decent with the ball at his feet too.
paulI guess I'm just nervous now that there's something to play for. And I'm one of those old fogies that dread the thought of changing a winning side.redtrev73At this stage we'll never eradicate the punt from jamie's game Ravenilli and yes, there will still be hoof-tastic moments like those against the magpies but hopefully they'll be the exception rather than the rule...and on the night the kid becomes second only to Cally in the appearance charts, let's celebrate the fact that he is a peerless defender first and foremost. have a feeling we'll need those patented last-ditch tackles with the likes of dempsey, jonson and zamora sniffing around.....RavenilliWould never argue with you that Cara is a great defender as the song goes would love a team of Carraghers. Hopefully the team will play well enough this evening that there won't be any need for last ditch tackles from him or anyone else for that matter.
