Corinthians reveal doubts over Tevez

Corinthians director Paulo Rosenberg is still interested in signing Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez, but his recent behaviour has cast doubts on any move.

Tevez has been on the fringes of the City squad since allegedly refusing to come on a substitute in a Champions League defeat against Bayern Munich last month, and has not played since.

It looks almost certain that the 27-year-old will be leaving Manchester in the near future, and Corinthians had become one of the favourites for his signature after an abortive attempt in August.

Timao marketing director Rosenberg, however, advised that the club had doubts over Tevez’s state of mind.

“I do not know if the coach believes he needs Tevez or what he thinks of his semi-crazy behaviour,” the official told SportTV.

“I don’t know if the trainer wants to break the squad harmony by bringing in an unstable Argentine.”

Rosenberg added that he was not ruling out a transfer, but that it had to be on terms favourable to the Brazilians.

“If the transfer was for a reasonable value we would make it happen, but we cannot do crazy things. I need to win championships, be it with Messi or a nobody,” he pointed out.

Tevez is a favourite on the Corinthians terraces, after winning the 2005 Brasileirao during his previous spell in Sao Paulo – the last national title won by the Timao.
