Blackburn 1 - Arsenal 2: Gutsy Gunners Get 3 Points (Updated with Player Ratings)

">digg: reddit: stumbleupon:LollardAnyone have any thoughts about the Carling Cup draw? I'm sure we'll stick with our usual policy of playing the kids, but I also hate to lose to Spurs too. Maybe we can at least sprinkle in some of Wilshere, Eboue, Vela, Denilson, Gibbs, etc.Darren_VWilshere is still a kid, isn't he? :)LollardWell, you know what I mean, of course. I'd like to play the guys on the fringe of the first team, rather than guys just on the reserve team who we don't even see on the bench for real games.brentonwaltersI thought Blackburn weren't particularly hardnosed or dirty today. A few tackles early were borderline, but for the most part they were simply physical. And full points to them for playing some decent football. Some route one stuff but also some good passing in the middle of the park. Match report has them with 9 fouls to our 6, and only the one yellow.Darren_VI thought they rarely played in the middle of the park... all route one punts to their strikers to me.brentonwaltersSecond week in a row I think you've given Diaby more credit than is due. His passing and decision-making was not particularly good today, I thought. 6.5 from me. Song also had a few terrible passes.EdBlackburn at Ewood is just a bastard of a task...well done.SairaxI thought Vermaelen looked a bit off today. He freaks me out when I see him further forward than some of our strikers. Sometimes you just like to see your CBs stay back and defend.
RvP I hope he's ok. Cesc had the first touch of a baby elephant today and was passing to no one at times. Kos got skinned but where was the cover? Almunia put in a good performance and I'm curious about what will happen now. Arshavin looked up for it and I thought he was going to score a nice one when he was burrowing his way through the defenders in the box.

Overall a decent showing against a very good Blackburn. When you can't win pretty you gotta win with whatever you got. Three points I will gladly take :)Darren_VI thought Vermaelen was the best Arsenal player today. MOM for me. He was everywhere defensively, winning headers everywhere. Rock solid at the back.
Almunia was good today. When he hit his head on the post I thought I was gonna have a heart-attack with the thought of Flapps coming on vs Blackburn again.
Walcott reminded me of a Ljungberg/Overmars winger a few times today. Looks very confident out there right now.Darren_VARGH! Wigan should be up 1-0 on Tottenham... wide open from 5 yards, and they skied itDarren_VHAHA, 1-0 WIGAN!SairaxI'm going to enjoy these CL hangover games from Spuds this season!Sairaxhahahaha this game is awesome!SairaxDid someone ride a bike over Defoe's head?
