Wolves 1-1 Fulham

Andrew Johnson scored his second goal of the season. The goal was also the second time that he’s grabbed a draw away from home.

In the first half, Salcido was close for his first Fulham goal with a right-footed shot that needed a bit more swerve as it missed the net by a few inches. He then volleyed a cross he received on the edge of the Wolves box, only for Dempsey, in front of goal, to knock it over the bar.

But then, Wolves got a goal. It came after Fulham failed to deal with a cross from open play. Aaron Hughes beaten in the air by Steven Fletcher, who headed it in.

As the game progressed, Fulham were dealt with some controversial referreing. One such decision, from referee Michael Oliver, lead to the dismissal of Mark Hughes. After Brede Hangeland received a yellow for a slide tackle on a Wolves player; Hughes whacked, with his favoured right foot, several bottles of water. To the stands he was sent.

But, via his mobile phone, Hughes told those at the Fulham dug-out to bring on from the bench: Bobby Zamora, Gael Kakuta and Andrew Johnson.

Perhaps Hughes also ordered a more direct approach to the game. As, for all of the use of a short passing game, Fulham’s goal came from a long punt from upfield. Zamora knocked down the long ball to AJ, who then struck it in – around 20 seconds after just being subbed on.

Another point gained on the road. But with the amount of chances and possession, this game had the feeling of a second away win. Nevertheless, Wolves were resilient at the back and a point is still a decent result to come away with at Molineux. Also, (this is tongue in cheek) Wolves didn’t injure any Fulham players.
