Bolton v. West Ham

Celebration West HamAfter 5 straight weeks away from the Reebok, Bolton return home to face West Ham United who are in serious danger of relegation as they sit in the bottom three on 32 points. The Wanderers will push for a return to seventh place as they are just a point behind Everton in the table. Bolton have beaten West Ham in each of their last seven games in all competitions including a 1-3 win in London back in week 2.

The Whites have lost two in a row and are looking to bounce back against the Hammers who are winless in their last three. Bolton fans have come to expect a howler or three from Rob Green that will lead to a Wanderers goal. Despite the come-from-behind 4-2 loss to Manchester United last weekend, Green has been on a tear of form as of late.

Both teams will pick up some strength in depth as key injured players return to the lineup after long absences. Zat Knight, Ricardo Gardner, and Mark Davies will return for Bolton with the possibility of Knight starting right away as David Wheater is just one yellow card away from being Paul Robinson, err suspended. Speaking of good, old, sometimes rash Robbo, he’s also one yellow card away from suspension. If he or Wheater were to pick one up, they would be forced to miss the Wembley semifinal against Stoke. Expect Alonso to continue filling in at left back as we hope to save Robbo for the semi-final as we all know that he’s incapable of not getting a card.

West Ham expect to have Jack Collison back as well as Thomas Hitzlsperger starting the match. That being said, West Ham are without manager Avram Grant who is starting his two match ban after being found guilty by the FA for comments made about the referee in the Stoke FA Cup match about a month back.

A win or draw could see Bolton back in seventh barring the Everton result but would put them in pole position in terms of confidence as they head to Wembley in order to book a place in the FA Cup Final.
