Classic Football Assaults #13: John Hartson Kicks Team-Mate Eyal Berkovic In the Head (Video)

1 comment by Mad Dog and Glory on March 28th, 2011

This infamous incident may well happen at training grounds up and down the land, although probably not, however this assault was caught on camera and although the picture is grainy the kicking of a players head is hard to miss.

Classic Football Assaults #11: Kung-Fu Master Eric Cantona Takes Offence Then Takes Aim (Video)

7 comments by Mad Dog and Glory on February 21st, 2011

Eric Cantona is of course a footballing legend in the very truest sense of the word. He is also, it seems, pretty good with kung-fu or whatever martial art he used on this sad pathetic loser of a ‘supporter’. This little move did of course led the Frenchman to an eight month ban.

A classic David vs Goliath tie at Old Trafford today

Non-League Crawley head to Old Trafford to face Manchester United in the FA Cup fifth round for the biggest game in the history of their club later today.

It’s a classic David vs Goliath clash, the giant vs the minnow. The Blue Square Premier side couldn’t have wished for a bigger or better draw.

Supporters

The non-league outfit are set to take 9,000 fans to the theatre of dreams and it will be a fantastic day out for the Crawley fans, no matter how the game goes. Even if Town are heavily beaten I’m sure the Crawley fans will enjoy their day out.

Romance

This is the sort of tie that has made the FA Cup down the years. A lower league team gets their chance to impress at one of the biggest stadiums in the world. The FA Cup is famous for being a competition that inspires shocks and performances.

Complacent

On paper this game should be a sure-fire Manchester United victory but this is the FA Cup and shocks do happen. Manchester United are certainly not underestimating their non-league opponents though.

United midfielder Michael Carrick told Sky Sports: “It’s a classic draw and one that a lot of people probably wanted to see. It’s one of those great things the FA Cup is capable of throwing up.

“A lot of people are going to have a great day, but for us it is about getting through to the next round.

Classic Football Assaults #9: Zinedine Zidane Gets Angry (Video)

3 comments by Mad Dog and Glory on January 17th, 2011

Quite possibly one of the most famous footballing moments in the entire history of the game. Apparently the two have long since buried the hatchet but I still wouldn’t want to go out for drinks with both of them unless I was covered in body armour.

Classic Football Assaults #8: Ben Thatcher Lets His Elbow Do The Talking (Video)

5 comments by Mad Dog and Glory on January 10th, 2011

Anyone who remembers this incident still gets cold sweats, imagine how Pedro Mendes feels! Seriously this is shocking, Ben Thatcher is something of a thug, no one would deny that, but this was hideous even for him. The 35 year old had his Ipswich contract terminated in the summer by none other than Roy Keane, he of the infamously poor challenges. Difference between Thatcher and the former Man United legend was that Keane had undoubted footballing talent and the left back was a glorified Sunday League player who somehow made it into the big time.

Classic Football Assaults #7: Team-Mates Kieron Dyer and Lee Bowyer Decide to Punch Each Other

3 comments by Mad Dog and Glory on December 31st, 2010

No one on Planet Earth likes Lee Bowyer. There are Amazonian tribes who have as yet not been in contact with the modern world, they live in huts and no little of electricity or indeed the magic of a nice sausage sandwich drenched in HP sauce, yet when scientists who discovered them a few months back they showed the natives a picture of Lee Bowyer and the resultant anger meant that the scientists have been turn to paste. This is the type of hatred the former Leeds, West Ham, Charlton midfielder engenders. Therefore it was no surprise when Kieron Dyer, who was surprisingly fit enough to be involved in this scuffle, decided to have a good old fashioned punch-up.

Classic Football Assaults #6: Roy Keane Wants Revenge (Video)

2 comments by Mad Dog and Glory on December 24th, 2010

Probably the most famous tackle/assault of the Premier League era a deliberate leg breaker from Mr. Roy Keane out for retribution following a long running feud with Alfe-Inge Haaland and one that will live long in the memory. As the Man United man said of the tackle in his autobiography “I’d waited long enough. I fucking hit him hard. The ball was there (I think). Take that you c
