This Luis Suarez goal vs Sunderland sealed a 2-0 victory for Liverpool against Sunderland on 20/3/11 in the Premier League. Liverpool had earlier taken the lead against Sunderland through a controversial Dirk Kuyt penalty.

The Suarez goal vs Sunderland was an example of excellent finishing from the Uruguayan forward as he found the back of the net from a tight looking angle. Sunderland keeper Simon Mignolet was anticipating a cross rather than an attempt on goal from Suarez.

The Suarez goal against Sunderland was scored in the second half of the fixture.

An extra time winner from Nikica Jelavic allows Rangers to beat Celtic 2-1 in the final of the 2011 Scottish League Cup. Celtic ended the fixture with ten men following a red card to Emilio Izaguirre in extra time.

This Ramires goal vs Man City helped Chelsea seal a 2-0 win over Roberto Mancini’s team and took the Blues into third place in the league at the expense of the Citizens.

The Ramires goal against Man City was an excellent individual goal from the Brazilian midfielder as he skipped past several Man City defenders before adding the final touch and beating Hart. Before Ramires’ goal, Chelsea had taken the lead via a David Luiz headed goal .

This David Luiz goal vs Man City broke the deadlock in the Chelsea vs Manchester City game on 20/3/11 in the Premiership. The David Luiz goal against Man City was a header from the Brazilian defender, with Drogba curling in the free kick.

Chelsea eventually went on to win the game 2-0, with Ramires scoring the second goal.

This Arshavin goal vs West Brom kickstarted Arsenal’s comeback in their Premier League game against the Baggies on March 19, 2011. The Arshavin goal against WBA came in the 70th minute of the game. Arsenal eventually drew the game 2-2 thanks to the Arshavin goal and a further strike from Robin van Persie.

This David Luiz goal vs Man United was his first Chelsea goal. The Luiz goal against Manchester United kick started Chelsea’s revival in their crucial fixture against the Red Devils and helped them beat Sir Alex Ferguson’s side 2-1. The Luiz goal was an excellent volley that United keeper Edwin van der Sar could do little to stop.

Belgian First Division wrap: Anderlecht on march

Anderlecht increased their lead at the top of the Belgian First Division to six points on Saturday with a 1-0 home win over Cercle Brugge.

They were made to work hard, however, with Morocco international midfielder Mbark Boussoufa scoring the winner with just two minutes to play. The result moves his side six points clear of second-placed Genk, who meet Standard Liege on Sunday.

Elsewhere on Saturday, KV Mechelen climbed to fifth with a 3-1 home win over 10th-placed KVC Westerlo.

Evariste Ngolok gave the visitors the lead after 12 minutes, but goals from David de Storme and Ebrahim Saveneh put Mechelen 2-1 up on the 22-minute mark and a third from Pan-Pierre Koulibaly six minutes from the end made sure of the result.

Club Brugge remain in fourth place after goals from Frenchman Wilfried Dalmat and Joseph Akpala handed them a 2-0 home win over Zulte-Waregem, while Lokeren stay in sixth after being held to 1-1 draw at home by bottom side Charleroi.

Charleroi had looked on track for just their fourth win of the season when Dudu Biton gave them the lead after 57 minutes, but an Alfred Finnbogason goal eight minutes from full-time secured a point for the hosts.

Lierse are still second from bottom but managed to secure a point at home to Germinal Beerschot thanks to a last-minute leveller from towering Hungarian striker Peter Kovacs.

Beerschot had taken the lead through a Guillaume Francois goal after eight minutes, but defender Kenny Thompson equalised for Lierse just before half-time.

Faris Haroun restored Beerschot’s advantage 10 minutes after the break and they looked to be heading home with all three points before Kovacs’ intervention.

St Truiden played out a 1-1 draw with Eupen at Staaienveld after Vincent Euvrard cancelled out Abderazak Jadid’s opener for Eupen.

Arsenal overcome Ipswich to march to the Carling Cup final

It took Arsenal an hour to break the frustrating logjam. But in the end Nicklas Bendtner, Laurent Kosicielny, and Cesc Fabregas booked the Gunners to their first Carling Cup final since 2007 and a shot at their first silverware since the 2005 FA Cup. The first half was marked by Robin Van Persie's solitary attempt which struck his mortal enemy, the woodwork (this must be his umpteenth time he's hit either the upright or the crossbar). To prove that point once again, his header clanged of the crossbar after Bendtner set him up for one more chance in the second half.

With every nerve racking minute gone by the anxiety levels were reaching stratospheric levels. Was it going to be another evening of frustrating football without any goals and Ipswich making history? Fabregas missed another chance from a sublime pass by the tireless Jack Wilshere.

It was Wilshere who finally provided the breakthrough as he swept a long pass that Bendtner was able to collect while remaining onside. The Danish striker cut inside Carlos Edwards and curled his shot past Martin Fulop, no slouch in goal, with elan. Say what you will Bendtner does not lack confidence. The Emirates exhaled a collective sigh of relief. Arsenal 1 Ipswich 1 on aggregate. Game on.

The Ipswich custodian was at fault two minutes later when he came off his line ill advisedly following an Andrey Arshavin corner only to find Laurent Koscielny beating him to the punch with his header. The icing on the cake was provided by Cesc Fabregas 10 minutes later latching onto a return pass from Arshavin and nutmegging Fulop.

The League Cup maybe on the lower end of the totem pole. In the past Arsene Wenger has treated it with almost seeming contempt bringing out his B and sometimes C side. He's come to the realization that success however small will be a huge fillip to a squad that has has not seen any and has forgotten how to win silverware. Success breeds success. Only Gael Clichy amongst them was part of the 2005 FA Cup winning squad. Winning the Carling Cup will be the first step in unlocking that mental block that has kept the Gunners from winning the bigger prizes.

Liga Sagres wrap: Porto extend lead, Uniao on the march

Porto restored their eight-point lead in the Liga Sagres with a 3-0 win away to Pacos de Ferreira on Sunday, but hapless Naval lost again.

The signs were ominous for Pacos when Argentina defender Nicolas Otamendi opened the scoring for Porto 11 minutes in, but a flood of goals never arrived at Estadio da Mata Real.

The hosts, 12th in the league with just one win in their last five, kept the runaway leaders out for a further 79 minutes, before they finally gave away a penalty, scored by Brazilian striker Hulk in the 90th minute.

Walter added a third shortly afterwards, but the scoreline did not do justice to Pacos’ dogged performance.

Uniao de Leiria piled further misery on Naval de Maio with a 3-0 win away to the league’s bottom club.

The visitors took just 15 minutes to breach the Naval defence, with Carlao striking from the penalty spot.

Uniao went down to 10 men with the dismissal of Paulo Vinicius in the 51st minute, but Naval were unable to take advantage and China’s Chengdong Zhang put the visitors further ahead on 64 minutes.

Diogo Amado rounded off the scoring with a goal in the 90th minute.

Uniao climb to third in the table, six points behind second-place Sporting Lisbon, while Naval remain rock bottom, eight points from safety.

Second-bottom Portimonense came away from Maritimo with a 1-1 draw despite finishing with 10 men after a last-minute own goal from Rafael Miranda.

Maritimo had taken the lead through Tcho in the 66th minute before the visitors lost Jumisse to a second yellow card with 12 minutes to go.

But the intervention of the unfortunate Miranda late on meant the spoils were shared.

Nacional missed the chance to climb to fourth after drawing 0-0 away to Olhanense.
