The Return of Yuri-dinho

Reports out of Cobham confirmed that our Russian winger has returned to the first team after an extensive rehabilitation process in Germany to ail his calf strain sustained back in November. Yikes.

I’m not suggesting that his return to the fold is going to do anything in the way of making us into a juggernaut once more, but it’s nice to have another option in attack, and cover for Ashley.

If anything, I’d like to see him get a run of games so we can finally determine his worth and position, once and for all.

The media is making it sound like he was supposed to score two hat tricks in his first two games... and don't let me start on the pathetic anti-chelsea/Torres squad from Liverpool. If Torres was so useless to them, you just wonder why they are still crying over him and wishing us only the worst. All of a sudden, Man u is not their arch enemy anymore and they do not care about keeping their beloved league record... They would give them (man u) the league on a platter as long as they beat us and push us out of the Champions league for next year... wishing your "biggest rival" all the good fortunes so that the team that paid you 50m for a useless player can regret it... Funny...
Anyway, welcome back Yuri... Great to have you back...Ajcan you small something in the air....thats right its fresh again as theres no more trolls in the last few posts. its funny how pool supporters talk about their proud history, but when you mention heysel and hillsborough then it hits their nerve. With Luiz in the back, Ramires and McEachran in midfield, Yuri on the wing, and Torres up front, the team could play a counter attacking style that's based on quick breaks and high paced play that would be very difficult to deal with.

Sometimes, watching Chelsea is like watching a game of chess. Definitely for the Inter games. Whereas all Chelsea had to do was use speed. See how Spurs and Arsenal did against two teams that eliminated Chelsea in the last two years.

Yuri is fast, he can dribble, has great technical skills and he can shoot. He should not only be played instead of one of the slower players, but be instructed to tactics that emphasize speed.

Although I feel that Carlo would prefer players like Pirlo, Gattuso, etc. rather than faster players.
Ajcarlo looks a broken man with no new ideas and doesnt look like he cares anymore. hes just waiting to be put out of his misery although i think any moves will happen end of season.Ajranieri is close to getting the sack at roma, carlo has an eye for the roma job end of season, i believe roman will keep him until end of season and maybe get compesated from roma if he leaves for them as opposed to sacking him and paying out 10m or so.MarcCFCinBKKNot sure which one I prefer, the article or MarkhamArmsDan's comment. One of the main reasons Chels are "under performing" is the effect of the (natural) turnover of squad players. With all the stir crazy frenzy caused by the tabloid media, with their "glass half empty" attitude when it concerns CFC, too much knee jerk reaction has been published from ill informed and not very bright "supporters", in my opinion.
All new additions take varying time to "blend" with the team. I for one recall that a certain DD who was absolute crap for at least his first season, but now he is the "best striker in the World" according to some. Didn't they say that about JFH too.
Therefore so refreshing to see an intelligent and reasoned posting. I quite agree, Yuri needs to be played for a run of games so that he can show us/ prove what he's all about. This applies too for several other squad players.
The problem is, though, establishing a standard with the squad players that provides a consistently high team performance. These guys play together everyday in training, so the only variable that should affect their "blending in" , apart from injury or new arrival, is personal motivation.
So when you look at it, we have an amazingly strong squad of players. Perhaps we need to just "support" the Club, ride the "storm", and let them overcome this temporary dip in performance.

second i agree across the board with this post. I am aggrivated by all, the Torres naysayers(especially liverpool fans, how pathetic they are to bash him, he carried that team for years). Torres in my POV is merely physically, emotionally, and motivationally worn out. he has been carrying liverpool for the last 2 and a half seasons, and twice in the last 3 years he has been in competition of some kind nearly year round. he carried Spain in 08, and conversely was carried in 010, but still had to play. that is 2 greuling natl team campaigns he, unlike Pepe Reina, was a near constant feature within. Since the WC he has gone thru another weak Liverpool half-season. when he finally grew the bravado to request a release from the club he was treated like judas (who does he think he is, demanding CL football and a chance at some kind of silverware without the name SPAIN written on it) and so we all know how that went down, the guy plays his first fame against 'Pool which wasn't easy, and he is currently underperforming. BIG DEAL

He still is Fernando Torres, he is not Andriy Shevchenko, he is 26 years old. If he doesnt get his mojo flowing by season's end so what, he will finally have a full vacation to enjoy and his mind at ease in regards to employment. Carlo will be able to take a minute to create a new tactical approach including the new additions, and maybe sell Salomon Kalou to i dont know, the New York Cosmos, at least there he wont have to worry about actually finishing his chances and performing at a level expected of a player with years of Chelsea EXP.

And im going to be the first to say it, even if the sky falls, the seas boil, and the earth splits open revealing the giant chasm and Hades, or, if Chelsea do somehow land in 5th place and miss out on CL for next term, WHO CARES?? in 10 years max no one will remember or recall the year chelsea didnt make a run at "ol' big ears", thats why we should just win the beast this time around, and end the Roman's pain. we will compete for the premiere league title jnext year just as we did last year, we have a great and gracious owner, our manager, although a bit bullish and uninspired at times, is top class, and there isnt a replacement out there better than Carlo(guess what, Jose aint coming back, Pep Guardiola will not leave Barca) well, there is Gus Hiddink, who is forever my dutch-midlife mancrush, but i think he was last seen being captured by an indigenous tribe in the amazon, trying to create a national team of Native Brazilian tribespeople...MarkhamArmsDanSorry for that assumption. People wanted his head for a season and a half.

It will be interesting to see how he reacts once Yuri is back in a position for selection. Flo has needed a spark for some time now.MarkhamArmsDanYes, quite agree.
