Kroenke linked with Gunners takeover

US businessman Stan Kroenke is reportedly set to launch a takeover bid for English Premier League club Arsenal.

Kroenke, 63, controls NBA franchise the Denver Nuggets, NHL outfit Colorado Avalanche, the NFL’s St Louis Rams, Major League Soccer team Colorado Rapids and 29.9 percent of north London club Arsenal.

He is believed to have agreed to purchase the 16.1 percent of shares owned by Danny Fiszman and the 15.9 percent owned by Lady Nina Bracewell-Smith for 11,000 pounds per share – a total of 225 million pounds.

The deal would put Kroenke in control of 62 percent of the club and oblige him to offer a buy-out of all remaining shareholders.

The price of Bracewell-Smith and Fiszman’s shares values the club at 750 million pounds, but debts of 147 million pounds take the proposed deal to a total of 900 million pounds.

Russian billionaire Alisher Usmanov holds the second largest percentage of shares, just over 27 percent.

Arsenal are second on the Premier League table, but have not won a trophy for six years.

Liverpool Linked With Moves to Capture £22m Ajax Pair

Fresh from capturing Luis Suarez from Dutch giants Ajax, Liverpool are reportedly preparing a moves to sign two more of the club’s top talents. Anfield director of football Damien Comolli is keen on bringing in highly rated defender Jan Vertonghen whilst continuing to pursue Danish teenager Christian Eriksen.

Liverpool’s owners are ready to hand Kenny Dalglish significant transfer funds this summer with the emphasis on youthful additions who can be the nucleus of a new era for the Merseyside club and with that in mind the club secured the likes of Suarez and Newcastle United striker Andy Carroll.

With two of Liverpool’s centre back’s being the wrong side of 30, Jamie Carragher and Sotiris Kyrgiakos, a move for talented Belgian international Jan Vertonghen would make a great deal of sense. The 23 year old can play in a number of positions and is a determined centre back who also thrives as a defensive midfielder and with almost 200 top level appearances to his name has a great deal of experience.

The likes of Arsenal and Man United have also been linked with moves for the powerfully built determined customer who is said to be valued at around

Ranieri ´happy´ to be linked to Liverpool

Roma manager Claudio Ranieri said he was pleased to be linked with the managerial position at Liverpool.

The 59-year-old has struggled to repeat his feats last season, where he led his hometown club to a second-place finish in the Serie A after being pipped by Inter Milan, who went onto win the Champions League, Club World Cup and Coppa Italia.

While Roma lie fourth in the Serie A, Ranieri has had a difficult season in charge and has been forced to face constant speculation about his position after a slow start and the ongoing rumours of a rift between himself and club legend Francesco Totti.

The constant pressure on Ranieri has made him ponder a return to the English Premier League and the former Chelsea boss did not deny rumours linking him with the Liverpool job.

“I am happy that a team like Liverpool are thinking about me,” Ranieri said after his side beat Cesena 1-0.

“I am very proud to lead the team of my home city, but there are pros and cons.”

When quizzed on Roma, Ranieri hopes that his side can improve their form on the road after they won just away from home for just the third time on Sunday.

“We have not won away from home very often this campaign and this is an important result for us,” he said.

“My players kept going until the end and were rewarded for such an approach with all three points.”

“It was not easy because Cesena made life difficult for us and we had to be patient and not give up hope. I hope this victory will mark a turning point for my team.”
