Eredivisie wrap: Feyenoord hit for six

FC Groningen thrashed Feyenoord 6-0 in the Eredivisie on Sunday, with six individual goal scorers netting in the victory at the Euroborg.

A first-minute goal to Dusan Tadic set the tone for a goal fest for the home side, before Maikel Kieftenbeld and Petter Andersson both scored to make it 3-0 on 18 minutes.

Leandro Bacuna struck in the 57th minute, before last-gasp goals to Virgil van Dijk and Hyun-Jun Suk capped off an amazing result.

Elsewhere, a 70th-minute strike from Bono Wilfried helped Vitesse claim a 1-0 victory on the road to De Graafschap, with John van den Brom’s side moving up into the top four with the result.

NEC Nijmegen broke a six-match losing streak with a 3-1 win over FC Utrecht.

The hosts at the Goffertstadion were quick to get off the mark as Lasse Schone fired home in the third minute, before Leroy George doubled their advantage on 13 minutes.

NEC’s drought-breaking win was sealed when Utrecht goalkeeper Roberto Fernandez took the final touch into his own net for 3-0 on 74 minutes.

Jacob Mulenga pulled a goal back for the visitors from the penalty spot on 76 minutes, but it was little more than a consolation.

In Sunday’s late game, AZ Alkmaar extended their lead atop the standings to six points after teenage midfielder Adam Maher’s late strike gave them a 1-0 win away to Heracles.

With the match seemingly headed for a draw, Maher popped up in the 89th minute to snare all three points for Gertjan Verbeek’s side, who extended their unbeaten streak to 15 matches in all competitions.

Eredivisie wrap: Twente leapfrog PSV, Willem win goal-fest

Twente defeated PSV Eindhoven 2-0 to take the lead in the Eredivisie, while bottom side Willem II lost 5-4 at home to Roda.

Theo Janssen opened the scoring from the penalty spot for hosts Twente in the 64th minute at De Grolsch Veste.

And the midfielder claimed a brace and wrapped up the win with his second goal six minutes from time.

The victory sees Twente replace PSV at the top of the table.

The defending champions are now two points clear with five matches left until the playoffs.

Elsewhere, Willem II led Roda 1-0 at half-time through a penalty from Andreas Lasnik.

Norwegian Pa-Modou Kah equalised for the visitors before Bart Biemans restored the hosts’ advantage.

Goals from Morten Skoubo, Ruud Vormer and Davy De Fauw then gave Roda a 4-2 lead.

Lasnik made it 4-3 with his second, before Vormer netted to restore Roda’s two goal cushion, and give the visitors a 5-3 lead with seven minutes to go.

There was still time for Willem II to go down to 10 men with the sending off of Arjan Swinkels.

Maceo Rigters struck the ninth goal of the game three minutes into injury time to make it 5-4, but Roda hung on for a topsy-turvy victory.

NAC Breda won 3-1 away to De Graafschap, who finished with nine men after Rogier Meijer and Leon Broekhof both saw red in the last 10 minutes.

Heerenveen led 2-0 by half-time in their match at home to Excelsior, but Geert Arend Roorda equalised with a five-minute double, before Nayib Lagouireh snatched all three points for the visitors with a goal two minutes into added time.

Eredivisie wrap: AZ fight for top three spot

AZ Alkmaar resumed their pursuit of the Eredivisie top three with a 2-1 win at 10-man Roda JC on Saturday, while Heracles thumped Excelsior.

AZ, who fell to sixth on the Dutch table following last weekend’s 4-0 defeat to Ajax, moved within six points of the third-placed Amsterdam club at the expense of Roda after this week’s win.

Iceland international Kolbeinn Sigthorsson broke a goal-less deadlock in the 52nd minute at Parkstad Limburg Stadion, the 20-year-old getting a header to Rasmus Elm’s free kick for his 11th goal of the season.

An error by Esteban Alvarado handed Roda an equaliser in the 72nd minute, the AZ goalkeeper fumbling while diving to trap a loose ball and gifting Denmark international Mads Junker the easiest of finishes.

But AZ were back in front two minutes later through Maarten Martens, whose scorching attempt from outside the area rocketed into the bottom-right corner.

Things only got worse for the hosts from there, with Pa Modou Kah sent off with a second caution for his front-on challenge on Australian Brett Holman as the game entered injury time.

Elsewhere, Heracles improved to three straight victories with a 4-1 dismantling of relegation-threatened Excelsior.

Excelsior were down to 10 men in the 23rd minute when Daan Bovenberg was sent off with a straight red, and it took just nine minutes for Mark-Jan Fledderus to capitalise on the advantage from the edge of the area.

Kwame Quansah (50) and Mark Looms (62) scored within 12 second-half minutes to put Heracles 3-0 up, before Guyon Fernandez pulled one back for the visitors in the 75th minute.

With the result all but decided substitute Heracles striker Glynor Plet added his own exclamation mark to the proceedings, finding the net in injury time for his first goal since October.

Finally, a last-gasp Daryl Janmaat goal ensured Heerenveen recorded a 1-1 draw at Vitesse Arnhem, ending their run of three straight losses.

On-loan Barcelona midfielder Marti Riverola nabbed his first-ever professional goal in the 43rd minute, the 20-year-old rising unmarked to nod home Michihiro Yasuda’s whipped-in cross for a 1-0 Vitesse lead.

But Janmaat saved Heerenveen’s blushes in the 87th minute, the Dutch midfielder’s third goal of the season stealing a point from the hosts.

Belgian midfielder Chadli sealed the win in injury time, finishing off substitute Ola John’s good work down the right with a simple tap past the Breda number one.
