15 games in and we’re right . Didn’t think this was possible after our early season struggles. We’re fortunate to have won some games without really playing all that well, and despite not hitting anywhere close to peak performance until the Blackburn tie, we find ourselves top of the league with 0 losses.
The table above does suggest that we need to start winning away from home however. Those draws just won’t cut it in the long haul and we can’t possibly expect Chelsea to stay mired in their slump for an extended period. They will want to put November (1W 1D 3L in the league) behind them as quickly as possible. Once they get their backroom issues sorted out and JT recovers from his injury, you can bet that they’ll resume their winning ways.
For now however, we’ll enjoy this position we’re in.
Ps – Welbeck scored yet again for Sunderland. Haven’t had a chance to catch the highlights, but that’s an impressive run of form he’s having. Hopefully, he comes back to us a much improved player than when he left us. SAF for one, has always been a believer in him.

« The Berba Show pt 2 (feat Blackburn) | Home | NickAfter the el classico today I think we are the only team undefeated this season in the world. I think we can consider ourselves the best team in the world since we are the only ones who haven't lost. I'm hoping for a perfect season.Apartments NerjaJust need Rooney to start chipping in now and you will run away with it!Billythe away form is still a worry but what was clear yesterday was the way players were enjoying the game. Everyone on the pitch was playing well and contributing well which was good to see.mattcleverley scored for wigan yesterday too.
the most impressive thing about all of this is how we've somehow caught chelsea on goal difference after all of our draws and their early season destruction of teams.Shaunagreed. i thought they would just keep killing us on goal difference and our only chance would be to beat them on points. if we can replicate the offensive rhythm from yesterday on a more consistent basis, the rest of the league better watch out.NickI've been watching most of the Chelsea, Arsenal, and Citeh games this month and its been great watching them perform to poorly. We really do need to do something about our away form though, hopefully starting at Bloomfield Road next week.
Yesterday we were brilliant but I think we can play even better. And what better time to start to hit top form than when our main title rivals slip up. The icing on the cake would be to take 3 points in each of the fixtures at home to Arsenal and away at Chelsea.
Another quick note too... When I was watching the Newcastle-Chelsea match this morning the commentators said that Alex was set to have Alex have surgery on his knee this week, ruling him out for some time and with Terry's nerve problem we might be facing a very weak back four when we travel to Stanford bridge. I like our chances.
ShaunLampard and JT are supposed to be back soon and may very well be ready in time for our visit to the bridge. Hopefully that won't be the case.
We should hopefully start winning away from home. 4 of our 6 away draws were in the first 7 league games of the season when we were incredibly generous at the back. We've shored up a tad since then. The only way I see us not increasing our wins in the away column would be if teams choose to park the bus against us and play for draws. Then again, after our display yesterday, can you really fault that strategy?blog comments powered by Disqus
