It is likely to be much changed Wolves and Stoke teams that go into action in the 4th round of the FA Cup on Sunday lunchtime. Stoke made 10 changes in the last round and still won in Cardiff and didn’t even get fined by the FA. And now with both teams having Premier League games on Wednesday evening, Wolves at Bolton and Stoke at Liverpool, there will definitely be plenty of legs being rested this weekend.
The Wolves line up I expect to see is;
Hahnemann
Doherty, Craddock, Mouyokolo, Elokobi
Bia, Henry, Edwards, Jones
Vokes, Ward
It will probably be the case that both teams will have strong benches to try to pinch the game in the 2nd half although neither manager will be keen on a replay. Craddock, Henry and Edwards in particular will be looking to wipe away the cobwebs after recent injuries with a view to getting back into the Premier League team while the likes of Doherty, Mouyokolo and Bia will be looking to make the case for being ready to be considered.
And it looks like there will be further transfer activity in the January window after all. Wolves have the allowance for one more loan player and having been turned down by Jonathan Woodgate they have gone back to Spurs for Jamie O’Hara (pictured training with David Beckham). The midfield player was evidently in Wolverhampton on Saturday and passed a medical and will be at the game on Sunday prior to signing to come to Wolves on loan for the rest of the season.
O’Hara is 24 years old and has been at Spurs since the summer of 2005 having previously been in the Arsenal academy. he has made 28 starts for Spurs plus 28 sub appearances and scored 7 goals. He has had loan deals with Chesterfield where he played 19 times and scored 5, and at Millwall where he scored 2 in 10 starts. But he came to the attention of football fans through some outstanding performances on loan at Portsmouth where he was from September 2009 to June 2010. He played 28 games for Pompey including the FA Cup Final and scored 3 goals. He was voted Portsmouth’s player of the season. Spurs have indicated they would be prepared to release O’Hara in the summer for around £4m.
So he should add a lot to the Wolves midfield as he provides good work rate, is a box to box player and can score goals. If all goes to plan he may be on the bench at Bolton on Wednesday although he has played only two behind closed door friendlies for Spurs this season following back surgery after a stress fracture. He could add to the attractions at Wolves reserve game against Man Utd at Telford on Monday evening.
