Liverpool are preparing an ambitious move to sign Newcastle United pair Jonas Gutierrez and Jose Enrique this summer. The Anfield side will reportedly look to strengthen their weak left side with the capture of the St James’ Park duo who have been in fine form for the Magpies this season.
Kenny Dalglish is known to be an admirer of Spaniard left back Jose Enrique and he has been linked with a move for the 25 year old former Villarreal man as the Liverpool boss looks to fill the left side of his defence. Paul Konchesky and Emiliano Insua are currently out on loan at Nottingham Forest and Galatasaray respectively and neither appear to be in favour with the manager.
The likes of AC Milan and Man United have also been linked with moves for Enrique who has been at Newcastle United since the summer of 2007 and is apparently reluctant to put pen to paper on a new deal until he sees how the club finishes the season and is also looking to see owner Mike Ashley use the funds generated from the sale of Andy Carroll re-invested in the squad. Many sources believe the former Spanish Under 21 international is readying a move away from the North-East club.
Argentine international Jonas Gutierrez is also on Liverpool’s radar as they look to bring natural width to their attack and having seen how well the left side Newcastle United pair work in tandem the Merseyside is interested in replicating the pairing at Anfield.
With the likes of Milan Jovanovic and Joe Cole failing to make an impact and with Maxi and Dirk Kuyt as the default options on either wing, the addition of an out and out winger appears to be uppermost in Dalglish’s plans hence his reported interest in the likes of Aston Villa contract rebel Ashley Young and Wolves wide man Matt Jarvis.
Reports suggest that the combined valuation for the pair is around
