Former Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is set for a return to management with Atletico Madrid.
The Spaniard took Liverpool to two Champions League finals during his six years at the club, winning one of them, and was responsible for signing stars like Fernando Torres and Xabi Alonso.
Current Atletico boss Quique Sanchez Flores is out of contract at the end of the season and has not been offered a new deal by the La Liga side leaving the door open for Benitez to make his return to management, according to Spanish paper AS.
The 50-year-old was sacked by Inter Milan in January after just eight months in charge and has been out of a job since.

It would be a little bit surprising if Quique Sanchez Flores was not offered a new deal as the 46 year old manager is considered one of the best young boss’s in the business. Last term the former Benfica and Valencia boss led the Vicente Calderon side to a Europa League success as well as the Copa del Rey final in his first season in charge.
However after two successive top four finishes under former boss Javier Aguirre, Flores has presided over fairly average La Liga form. Clearly Rafa Benitez’s success in Spain can not be argued with, during his three years at Valencia he led the Mestalla club to two La Liga titles and a UEFA Cup triumph.
