As per the new Premier League rules, each club had until September 1st to confirm their 25-man squad. The rules are not as complex as I had once believed, but could probably trip up one or two managers. Here is the official rule….
Premier League rules state that each club must submit a squad, maximum 25 players, containing eight home-grown players (players trained in England or Wales for 36 months before the age of 21), with an additional unlimited number of players aged 21 or under on 1 January that year.
For the Hammers that means that they ten eligible players available for their 25 man squad.
Hammers 25-player Squad (“homegrown” players are highlighted in bold)
Goalkeepers: Boffin, Green
Defenders: Ben Haim, Da Costa, Gabbidon, Ilunga, Jacobsen, Reid, Spector, Upson
Midfielders: Boa Morte, Behrami, Collison, Dyer, Faubert, Hitzlsperger, Kovac, Noble, Parker
Forwards: Barrera, Cole, Hines, McCarthy, Obinna, Piquionne
The Under-21 squad includes
Goalkeepers: Stech
Defenders: Brown, Eyjolfsson, Fry (currently on loan at Charlton Athletic), McNaughton, Modelski, Spence, Tomkins
Midfielders: Edgar, Lee, Stanislas, Wearen
Forwards: Abdulla, Montano, Nouble, Sears
