Lineups are in:

Arsenal: Starters: Fabianski, Sagna, Koscielny, Djourou, Clichy, Wilshere, Song, Fabregas, Nasri, Walcott, Van Persie Bench: Rosicky, Denilson, Squillaci, Arshavin, Chamakh, Bendtner, Szczesny.,

Manchester City: Starters: Hart, Richards, Kompany, Zabaleta, Milner, Barry, Jo, Kolo, Tevez, De Jong, Yaya Bench: Given, Bridge, Wright-Phillips, A Johnson, Boateng, Lescott, Vieira

We start with the same lineup that won away at Birmingham and at home to Chelsea. I think this bodes well for our chances. With Djourou on the side we have yet to lose or even draw a Premier League match. For Man City, there’s no David Silva, Balotelli, or Adepaymore, which is good news for us. They have Jo and Tevez up front. Tevez has been on fire and Jo has done well in Europa League, so they definitely pose a threat going forward. Zabaleta is tasked with dealing with Theo instead of Kolorov who seems to lack pace. Surprising that Adam Johnston isn’t starting since he could have a go at Clichy, but there is still plenty of muscle and talent on their side. They have a decent bench, but I think ours has plenty of firepower to deal with any bumps we encounter.

It should be noted that Manchester City have not beaten us at home since 1975. The last Manchester City player to score against us at the Emirates was DaMarcus Beasley in 2007. Some other stats that may interest you (courtesy of OptaJoe): Man City have scored a league high 7 goals in the opening 15 minutes & Arsenal have conceded the fewest (0) in this period. Of course, stats mean nothing now. Man City have billions and have a squad quite capable of beating us, especially with their away record which is currently the best in the league. Not to mention we’ve let certain other records get broken this season *cough*spuds*cough*west brom*cough*.

I’m still feeling confident though. Our starting eleven, featuring the one and only Theo van Nasregas, has been on a roll. We’ve scored 3 goals against Brum and Chelsea and conceded only one. If we keep the same gameplan, mentality, and attitude, I think we’ll do well to get 3 points.

Come on Arsenal!
