City-Arsenal Minute by Minute Report

It’s City vs. Arsenal, from the Emirates! Read on for our exclusive minute-by-minute account of the action, from a blue point of view…

We are about 15 minutes behind real time, so bear with us…will be all caught up for the second half.

Here are the teams: Fabianski, Sagna, Koscielny, Djourou, Clichy, Song, Fabregas, Wilshire, Walcott, Van Persie, Nasri for Arsenal…
For City it’s a surprise change in the backline: Hart, Richards, Kompany, K Toure, Zabaleta, De Jong, Y Toure, Barry, Milner, Tevez, Jo.
Somewhat curious selection by Mancini if you ask me—no Adam Johnson in the first eleven.
1st minute. Arsenal kick it off, and keep the ball for forty seconds before Zab makes an important interception in the box. Throw to City on the left.
2nd minute. Arsenal miss a clear cut chance—Wilshere whiffed his lines, then City break quickly and get a shot off by Milner that whizzes wide. Wilshere passed when he should have shot and Van Persie couldn’t get on the end of it—though he may have been offside.
3rd minute. More good attacking play by Arsenal but City get it out of there.
4th minute. There’s a strong shot at Hart left footed from Wilshere, he can’t catch it cleanly but the City keeper gets to the rebound first.
5th minute. City are under a barrage right now reminiscent of Spurs on opening day. City escaped that day. A brief spell of possession and Tevez has it in the box before being tackled. There are signs City might get something off a counter.
6th minute. Two great tackles by Kolo Toure in the last minute. He’s been out of the squad the last couple of matches but looks good early on his return.
7th minute. City are slowing the game right now, passing it around the back.
8th minute.Walcott attacks down the right, leaves it for Sagna whose cross goes right to Hart. Jo now out on the left with the ball.
9th minute. Van Persie hits the post, the near one! That shot was out of nothing after some dancing with the ball around the box. Hart was beaten but the post was there fortunately.
10th minute. Arsenal are very impressive so far, but City is hanging in there. Walcott tries to shoot but Zab blocks it. Now here’s a proper goalline scramble, the ball bounccd around the box for an eternity before it fell to Wilshere, whose shot is not hard enough to beat Hart.
