Lineups are in:

Ipswich: Starters: Fulop, Peters, McAuley, Delaney, Kennedy, Edwards, Norris, Healy, O’Dea, Wickham, Priskin Bench: Lee-Barrett Smith, Eastman, Civelli, Lambe, Murray, Hourihane

Arsenal: Starters: Szczesny, Eboue, Djourou, Koscielny, Gibbs, Walcott, Wilshere, Fabregas, Denilson, Arshavin, Bendtner Bench: Shea, Chamakh, Ramsey, Vela, Song, Eastmond, Miquel

A very strong lineup I would say. Djourou is keeping his place next to Kos, so I’m assuming he’s fit enough to start playing more regularly now. Denilson and Jack hold in the middle while Bendtner spearheads the attack. Cesc will provide some much needed creativity that we have lacked with Rosicky lately. Theo will provide some pace while Arshavin has another shot at working his Russian magic. Fabianski doesn’t even make the bench, and James Shea gets his first spot in the squad. Not a lot of options off the bench, but Vela might get a chance late in the game, and we could have the much anticipated return of Aaron Ramsey.

I won’t be able to watch the match live, but I will be watching the replay. I will probably be checking the score on twitter, but the review up will be up a little late after I have watched the game myself. Let’s hope we come out of the game with a decent result so we can take some of the pressure off for the 2nd leg at the Emirates. I think this team is good enough to go out there and get a win, but I’m not getting ahead of myself, especially against a team with nothing to lose.

Come on Arsenal!

The fact is in the 'real World' we are effectively 1-0 down at half time, and need to play a lot better in the second half (or in this case the second leg) to win...ThemaingoonerFucking hell, its only the first leg, reading some of the posts below you would have thought the Worl had come to an end,,, In the real World we are 1-0 down at half time, and have to play better in the second half (or in this case the 2nd leg)...Gigi_manIs it just me because I haent seen the games or is a general feeling:

dont you think we are kind of sloppy in attack? I mean, starting the season it was that defence wasnt settled, same as last season. But looking back we scored more so we could be in the races. Now, we defend better, but our attack is nowhere.

Have they really learned how to contain us? if so, frankly, we will need a lot of "garra" to win, and I dont see it in these guys.

Sad.gta95Our defense was shocking todayPatoux21And Arsenal style has become very predictable. There are a lot on one-two passes it's like almost automatic and many of them are being intercepted or useless.Junichi Ezechiel BennettAnd so is Barcelona's style. The issue is not about how predictable we are but about how good we are. Tonight we were not good, point. I don't think our style is a promble.Fred JacobThe players are the problemJunichi Ezechiel BennettYep, we are saying approximatively the same, we were not good enough. Except I do believe they have qualities.Patoux21As soon as I saw Arshavin and Bendtner in the line-up I knew we could expect a poor resulr and performance. And am I the only to think that Wilshere is extremely overrated?BertrandWhy do people judge after a single (Admittedly woeful) performance?

Sometimes players perform below par, it doesn't mean they are bad players.

Give the kid (and yes Wilshere IS a kid) a break.Patoux21I've been watching many recent Arsenal games and everytime I've seen Wilshere play he was disapointing. Unaccurate easy passes, minimal offensive threat (almost inexistant to be fair), below average defensive skills and so on ... I can understand players can have a spell of bad form but when was the last time he actually played well? Instead of talking about how he's improved and that the team is title contender he should probably work harder on training.Junichi Ezechiel BennettMy concern right now, except that we were nothing but crap, is that Eboué will start the first leg against Barcelona...BertrandSad times.

We will get smashed by Barca.

But that is expected.Fred Jacobat least we will have only the league to concentrate on since since we will be knocked out of FA and would have already won the Carling CupFred JacobIs it weird i actually feel like cryingGigi_manWe have to come up with ideas, other teams study you when you are good, and we cant be doing the same thing all over.
Either that or we are really crap right now.

Didnt see the game and happy that I didnt seeing all the comments and ratings.

I d rather see Martin or Sairax ratings though, more accurate I think than most on internet.

Well, bad thing for me is that I havent been watching games so I cant really comment on anything seriously, (good news for all of you is that you dont get bored). But really, how much can we comment on this? its a shame...I had kind of hopes with the league, Carling and UCL even....now??

A joke, thats what it seems.

Shame on all players, shame on AW, all of you know that I true fan is hurt!Fred JacobWe i wish i was lucky like you not to see any games, i think i better cut the cable and internet in my housePerry S.Sairax / Martin, have fun writing this one up. The only person on the squad that deserves a +5 rating is Johan.JordanAbsolutely withdrawn performance. Nothing happening at all, either teams have really figured out how we play or we're just not capable of 'it' right now. I can't think of a good word to describe the game tonight, there really was virtually no positives to take away, maybe that Connor Wickham looks to be a pretty decent young player...? Honestly though, if we put in a performance like that against West Ham we're surely going to be up the creek in terms of the championship.brentonWe deserved that. Cesc was crap.Perry S.We absolutely did not deserve to win. My god that flub by Fabregas on the cross is bad, really bad.brentonclarification: I meant we deserved to lose.Perry S.I knew what you meant, Brenton, I was agreeing with you, but I think it came off in an argumentative way. The fault is on me.brentonWell good. I was worried people might think I had watched a different game, one in which we actually wanted to win.Illinois GoonerOur second string's inability to do anything but suck hard is really starting to piss me off. These players last year would have destroyed Ipswich, but all of the sudden, if you're not Theo Van Nasregas, Song, or Sagna you are a complete failure as a footballer. If I had seen these line-ups as a neutral I would have bet $1,000,000 on Arsenal to win. All but two of our starters have been established players on their national teams (u21 included). This is shameful.Fred JacobTheo is a big waste in my book seems like he isn't learning anything can't even dribble a ball i really hate high hopes for him, i only watch the second half and the best player was Gibbs and DjourouBertrandWe dominated the game against Man City.

To say the game against Chelsea was a fluke would be unfair and irrational.

Fred Jacobdude only 3 players was missing so it was not or second string team, am guessing now the game against Chelsea was a fluke. And i really hate ArshavinPerry S.Fabregas is just as much to blame for this loss as any of the other folks we're mentioning here. He should be held to a higher level and on that note, he is IMO the WMOTM (W = Woeful). I'll chalk this up to just a despicable performance and feel that at home, it likely will be a very different story. 9/10 we'd really dominate this match, something was simply off for the team today. I mean 9/10 Fabregas would have easily scored on that cross to him, no?Fred Jacobyea put with or inability to keep a clean sheet we will win 2-1 and get knock outJG9/10 we beat City, 9/10 we win the league, 9/10 we are the best team in the world..... can we FOR ONCE fill that remaining 1/10 please?Fred JacobHe was moving like he had an injurySKi knew we would lose, cuz the fitness level is very low, and still under pressure with the leeds draw. hope we win the home leg,. go gunns!!!!!!Homey_MillsWell the good news is that this loss will teach us not to be complacent about lower-level teams that we're supposed to beat. And we'll come out with more determination next time we take on a big underdog team. :-|Fred Jacobhow many time have we been complacent this year and we still have not learning anything. i think all of our players were dumb when they went to schoolPerry S.Broken record my friend.Homey_MillsWhat? We've said that before?Perry S.Yeah, that record broke some time ago. I've kept it in my milk crate for storage for some time, but somehow it manages to make its way out every now and then...odd really.JGThe good news is that there are two legs.. the bad news is that i'm not sure we will win at home on the 2nd leg.
And my god, Eboue, Arshavin, and Denilson shouldn't play for Arsenal until they are taught to:
not diddly daddle when a striker is sprinting at you, actually give a damn for the team that is paying your wages, and learn to do something other than pass sideways.
Fuck all, a great win against West Ham will be nice but unless RVP and Nasri are fit to play, pretty hard to imagine.Fred Jacobno good new partner we are screwed cause we might win the game what 2-1 and get knocked on away goalsJGyep. exactlyArsenaldkI AM SO PISSED RIGHT NOW! THERE I SAID IT! WHAT A PERFORMANCE! WHO ARE WE?? HEADLESS CHICKEN TONIGHT! AARHGGHHevaldowell. that was terrible!SJGgumbyThis is so painful to watch. Now I know how Chelsea have felt the last few months (or Spurs the last few years).Gigi_manAha...down by 1 vs Ipswich town..man I am so mad at the team right now I could yell in their faces if they are trying to make a PSurs fan!!!.TJFinally, fuck Arshavin. Wasteful, useless piece of shit.JGDenilson, Arshavin= out
Hazard, Ramsey= inTJPlease god let that happen, more Ramsey, more Frimpong... no Arshavin, bring in Hazard. I agreed. And hopefully Sakho or MetersackerJGshiiiiitt
why on earth are we down 1-0 to bottom championship Ipswich with Cesc on the pitch.
my god, we a re beyond useless. henry save usFred Jacobhe and all is useless, have you watched him in New YorkHomey_MillsI'm not watching, but I'm following it online. How can we trail a team like Ipswich? Wow. Another low point.Illinois Gooneryou've got to be fucking kidding meSJGgumbyThis is really culminating a pretty poor run of form since Chelsea.TJI disagree, we played about as well as team could play against Birmingham and Man City. and holy shit, they just scored. this game, as well as the Leeds game has been awful.Gigi_manYep, thats what I was thinking, seems like they ran out of gas...?
Man Chelsea endorsed 7!! and we beat Chelsea!!TJthat certainly wasn't the best thing to do their wojoTJshoot the ball cescGigi_manNot wathcing it...but I expected our goal so far,
How are we playing?
My nerves again are breaking me...Perry S.We are not playing very well. The offense is not creating chances, and the few we've had, we flub away.

Please, no one respond with, "Ipswich is defending well." That in itself should make you scratch your head.Gigi_manMan...what a sad sad moment for us...Perry S.It really is, this is Ipswich and we can't muster even a single goal?Brian in BrooklynI'm with Perry on this one. The announce on the stream I'm watching said that we're down on shots 11 to 4, and only one of our 4 has been on target. Djorou has been good for us so far, saving us about ten minutes ago when Wickham blew past Eboue, and coming back to cover on the ball over the top to Priskin that beat Kos. Other than Johan, though, I don't see many highlights on our side.Brian in BrooklynFor those not watching, Song has come on for Wilshere and Chamakh for Bendtner, in the 68th minute.JGwe are.. sucking at this point. Denilson and Arshavin are beyond useless. Cesc is simply not focused. Eboue is playing like a blind U-10 Spurs benchwarmer.Perry S.Put Bend-It in that fold, he's done nothing with that massive head of his.Gigi_manOuch...I must saw the yahoo ratings (not as I like them as much as Martins ones) and according to them Denilson, Bendtner and Arsha should be replaced..ASAP!Perry S.Extremely lull match, come on Gunners, make it rain.Djlazercatbeen impressed by wickham. thought it'd just be english media hype.TJif I have to watch Denilson and Arshavin for 45 more minutes, I'm going to slit my own throat.Perry S.What kind of casket do you prefer?TJSpread my ashes over the training ground, so Wenger can see everyday what he did to a poor boy in Atlanta, Georgia with his decisions.TJI'm tired of fucking Denilson.Perry S.Ha he's on my list of 3 that should be sold, one can hope.Squash2034are there any streams available?Perry S.http: / / atdhe dot net / 32379 / watch-ipswich-town-vs-arsenal

Remove spaces and change dot to a period.Lana W. Dawood*http://footylive.info/index.ht...Brand_CHopefully this isn't a game where Cesc will need to play the full 90, so without Rosicky on the bench (or Nasri for that matter) who would play that role?SairaxArshavin can move into that positionPerry S.Agreed, he was filling that position when Fabregas was out last season.MartinAlso, that is NOT Ipswich's first XI, so there are no excuses for this one. We really ought to go out there and smash them.

And I will be very disappointed if Wenger brings on Ramsey in this one. He has earned the right to make his return to the squad at home and get the rousing ovation from the home fans.SairaxHoly crap for a sec I thought you were telling me I got the lineup wrong. *Whew* Crisis averted.Perry S.Very pleased to see Djourou start, he's earned this.SairaxI don't think he was being left out because he was lower on the pecking order. Wenger was just being careful bringing him back from injury. We've had some bad luck with rushing players back in the past. Hopefully he's feeling fit enough to start more now.MartinI just wanted to point out how on fire I've been predicting the lineups lately. I thought it would be Clichy instead of Gibbs, and I thought Djourou would be rested, but I nailed the 6 attacking players. I hope you all realize how lucky you are to have me around.SairaxI dunno Martin. Is getting 2 of the starters wrong really "on fire"? Is it?MartinIt is for this one. Read the discussion I was having with some people on Twitter earlier -- seemingly everyone thought Rosicky and Chamakh were going to start (a lot of people saying there was "no chance" of Cesc starting), a bunch of people thought Eastmond would start. People picking Nasri, van Persie, even Vela as well.SairaxIs it though? Is it?blog comments powered by Disqus
