News Round Up: Jack Arrested in Fracas; Goalkeeper Update

By: Sairax | August 30th, 2010

Hello everyone, it’s regular commentor Sairax filling for Martin. Don’t worry he’ll be back! I should really check into this ‘life’ thing he seems to have though. Sounds interesting. Anyway, onto some Arsenal news:

It seems our young Jack Wilshere has run into some trouble with the fuzz. Actually it’s not as bad as it sounds. There was apparently a bit of a “fracas” late Sunday night where a man and a woman sustained injuries. Jack was present and was taken to the police station with the involved parties. It seems he was not an aggressor in the situation and was trying to help. He was released on bail shortly after.
Statement from his agent:

The police have made it very clear that he is an important witness to the incident and played the role of peacemaker and is unlikely to face any charges as a result. Jack has made it very clear he will cooperate fully with the police investigation.

Peacemaker eh? He really will be a future Jesus!

Could I interject right now with some general advice? Don’t ever be on twitter when a story like this hits the wire. There was about a 15 minute period from when there was news of an arrest, to the discovery that Jack was a peripheral figure trying to help out the police. The overreaction that ensued within that period was crazy. There should be some sort of law where people aren’t allowed to publicly comment on things until they know the whole story. Also, I need to stop reading twitter for everything! Moving on…

There have been some small developments in the goalkeeper situation. First of all, Mark Hughes has acknowledged that Schwarzer has asked for a move, although if they cannot find a replacement for him he would have to stay. Fear not because Hughes is currently trying to rescue Shay Given from the Man City bench. If everything goes through with that transfer, expect a Schwarzer announcement shortly after.

Finally, after it was announced last week that Jack Wilshere would be a part of the England youth squad and not the senior squad, we find out that Theo Walcott and Kieran Gibbs have been called up for the England Euro qualifiers next week. I will discuss internationals later this week when it is closer to the actual matches.

That’s it for today. Sorry, there isn’t too much happening in ArsenalLand, but I will be around to update on any new developments.

Awesome, went from approx. 1 1/2 weeks to a few weeks meaning it will be at least a month...3 games in and only 1 where RVP has started and we're already back to this?! *nods*SairaxUpdate
Shay Given to stay at Man City. Could possibly effect Schwarzer move. More info when I get it.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/aug/30/...Isabel GhoseThanks for the update.

Anyway at the moment I am not convinced that Schwarzer is the best option. I would prefer if we waited until the January transfer window to get Afinkeev on a free. Schwarzer will also miss a lot of January due to the Asian Cup.GigiI hear you, but dont you rhink that with his age and experience, he can be at top for 2, 3 years and help Chesney to come through? Akinkeev would be nice but he would be there longer no?Isabel GhoseI see what you mean, but if those injuries are true then will he really be performing at the top for another 2 years? We would be in a worse situation with Flapianski forced to come in if Schwarzer is facing these recurring back problems. And while I agree Chesney is a great prospect, Flapianski looked the same until he was put in a high pressure situation. Why miss out on the chance of a great goalkeeper?Gigiwoooowhoo!! havent read a word but I am happy for Sairax. Of course I worship ouyr regular Martino but Sairax is always updating us so fine that deserevs to be there!
Now to read :)PeevishYep - I'd second the thanks to Sairax for being the Robin/Catwoman to Martin's Batman - its a gooner dream team - now I know how they feel in Miami, or Cincinnati right now. (random American *cough* sport reference over.)

And also thanks for reaffirming one of many reasons why I never go near Twatter.Darren_VAgreed.silent stanhe WAS arrested, he is on BAIL
there is CCTV footage of him throwing a 'peaceful' punch tooChrisWell done, Sairax, for taking up the writing baton. Can we safely assume that RvP has not been handed a call up for Holland, and so give the ankle the 10 day rest it needs ?SairaxOk I see he was called up http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Van-Marwij...

I still think his injury will prevent him from playing in the qualifiers. I'll let you know if there's any updatesHomey_MillsI think I got my mojo back, because I figured out how to be Homey again. Anyway, the RvP call up seems ridiculous. But how many times have we said that before? So he needs to fly out to San Marino and then Holland, just to sit and cheer his teammates? Or worse, to play against hapless opposition despite being too injured to play for Arsenal?
It's really upsetting, and I think Martin would say the same.
Thanks for filling in on the site, Sairax.Darren_VWe won't be playing. He is out for 10 days, and that article you linked to was published Aug 27, which is Friday, the day before he injured himself.
Calm down Homey! :)Homey_MillsOK, thanks for that info. We can still hate all the international breaks though, right?SairaxI cannot find the Netherlands squad but I assume RvP will be nursing his injury and not taking part.John MurphyI would like to thank Sairax for updating the blog and still allowing me to waste time during my day on this site.SairaxNo problem, I just wish there was more to report atm!blog comments powered by Disqus
