Bring in Frank the Tank? Employ Wenger’s younger brother? Bring back Dalglish and go for somebody currently commited to a club in the summer? Angle for a return of the Rafalution? Or even keep Uncle Roy around until the eventual heat-death of the universe? The possibilities are literally not endless, but you still get to choose…

PrintShare.wp-notable img {border: none;margin-left:5px;} JoelWould like to see Kenny in, then Rafa back, as I've stated before. I wouldn't complain about Pelligrini either, I think he'd do well. I guess I just have a soft spot for Rafa- love the guy. He's made it pretty clear he wants to come back, and I think he should be allowed to continue what he started with building up the youth and scouting systems. As Masch once said- his football is my football. Given the proper backing, LFC would be a monster with Rafa at the helm again.garyJONJO SHELVEY!!!GalahadThreepwoodPellegrini, please. We have a second chance--let's get it right this time. By the way, here's the invaluable Paul Tomkins on why Roy needs to leave now. I only hope NESV is listening.EdIs Guus winning more about Guus or more about Rafa? Curious.
Polls, the window to the anonymous soul.NoelI'm a bit surprised by what I can only assume is Rafa love so far, since as much as I love Hiddink I can't imagine him being in it for the long haul--if, as Katie points out, he's even a reasonable option.
Think everybody knows I'm on the Pellegrini bandwagon by now, and would just be rehashing points Grubb and Katie made.KatieFor me, it is very obvious that Pellegrini is the man for the job. He is a lot more reliable than Rijkaard, and I'm not even sure if Hiddink is a possibility. Even if he is, I would rather install a permanent replacement right now to gain some stability.
No idea why so many people were so upset on the last thread. I hardly think that wanting a manager out after he has played the most successful English team ever into 19th place in the league, his tactics indicate that we will never challenge for anything, and he's pleased with scraping by with wins against recently promoted clubs, is unloyal or "kicking and screaming." I never wanted Rafa to leave. I'm not upset because for one year Liverpool didn't win any silverware--this happens a lot at other top clubs. I honestly believed that after Liverpool got back on its feet things would be different, but honestly, Roy doesn't have the confidence of anyone anymore.
If standing by someone who is clearly moving us in the wrong direction is loyalty to these people, then fine, I'm not loyal. I define loyalty as standing by your club and believing in its potential, and making sure that people in charge are doing the same. Sadly, that just isn't Roy.RoscoThe golden guus most definitely for me, though I feel he's probably the least likely.GrubbPellegrini all the way for me. Hiddink would be a good short term option, to get us out of the relegation zone and possibly back into Europe.
But if we're serious about going toe-to-toe with Chelsea and Man U (NESV say we are) then we need to start building now, and that means taking a long term view and installing a manager that has taken a midtable club and made them overperform (Pellegrini @ Villareal) and also a manager that can make a top level team play effective winning footy (Pellegrini @ R. Madrid).
There are too many question marks over all of the other coaches.
Tactics? Check.
Suitable experience, relative to our current and future positions? Check.
Attacking, possession football? Check.
Good at managing players? Check.
Young enough to not be a health liability? Check.
Interested in the job? His agent says so.
Don't think you'll get a full list of checks out of any of the other candidates. Just my 2c though.
But Roy is hanging around at the moment like the proverbial lingering fart, so I guess we'll see where this all goes in the next few days.
